Prompt and regular attendance is vital for children’s success in school and absence from school has a lasting effect on children’s performance.
In line with DFES and Brighton and Hove Guidance, St Peter's Community Primary School will not authorise pupil absence for holidays in term time, unless there are exceptional or unusual and compelling circumstances.
Please read the documents below to find out more information.
If your child is to be absent through illness, we ask that you notify the school as soon as possible (before 9.15am). Our preferred method of absence reporting is using the Studybugs app: https://studybugs.com/about/parents
We have a “48 hour” rule for sickness and diarrhoea, as per guidance from the School Nurse Team. This means that we ask parents to keep their children away from school for 48 hours from the last time they were sick or had a tummy upset. This is to minimise the spread of these germs and try to keep our children fit and healthy!
Where a child's absence from school is medical, we ask you to provide written evidence where possible (e.g. hospital appointment letter).
